A SELECTION OF IRISH BEER

"It was of the most beautiful colour that the eye of an artist in beer could desire; full in body, yet brisk as a volcano; piquant, yet without a twang; luminous as an autumn sunset; ..."

Thomas Hardy, "The Trumpet-Major"

The following is probably  the most comprehensive listing available on Irish beer as it was taken from the check list prepared by The Porter House for the Irish Beer & Whiskey Festival (March 2002) held on their premises (6th Annual Irish Beer Festival by my reckoning).   Click on BREWERS below for further details. The information given in the pamphlet was not nearly as extensive as the 1999 tasting notes.  A listing for the 2000 festival is also available. A listing is also available for CAMRA's (ie real ale only) 2003 Belfast Beer Festival.
